Goodbye to Summer

It's always Summer somewhere, especially in SL, and Flow's excellent boardshorts and retro swim suits from this month's Mens Dept (ending today) provide a nice excuse to ignore the season and enjoy some SL rays. The boardshorts have a texture-change band and like the swim suits are available with liquid-mesh sizing in a range of colors and at an attractive price.

The avis feature skins by (Red)Sand (previously bogged here) and a recent skin gift from Aeva with shapes by Novus and Shape it Up. Hair is from Alli & Ali, where numerous styles are on sale for 50l through the end of the month.

The Lodge

The post features Scarlet Creative's Noelle Chalet, which is a lovely small build with an interesting mix of raw wood, exposed beams and glass available at a great price (50l unfurnished, 199l furnished). Beautifully furnished with a modern twist, the house was intended as a rustic mountain getaway and looks great surrounded by snow, but some of the design elements made me think it could also work well as a small hunting lodge, perhaps on the plains of Africa. I'll show more of the build in a later post - if you are interested in seeing a demo though, follow the beacon from the landing point to the teleporter that takes you to Scarlet Creative's discount area.

Some of the female clothes here are free gifts from the opening of the Zenshi Shopping district. Many of the stores there had gifts out, but they may not be available for much longer (in fact, the Faster Pussycat dress gift shown below seems to have been removed, but a different version was available for free at the time of publication). Also like every month there are some great items at Mens Dept - I particularly like gO's Morten pants and the unisex sweater from Sleepy Eddy - so don't miss it (ends February 1).

Pt. Richmond

A few more scenes inside the skybox from my last post, including a general view of this nice build from [Deco] on sale at Mens Dept.

Avis are the same as last time (see my previous post for info on gifts from Essences & Anna Shapes, also check the sale rooms for the new sale items from these designers). I'm not sure if the Golden Apple Hunt gifts are still available, but I hope some of you guys made your way over to the NYC sim to grab some of those items.

The fashion here is a mix of Mens Dept, two really nice group gifts from +HuHu+ (a relatively new store with some cool designs - check it out) and an excellent Christmas gift for women from English Muffin. Note that EM's gift includes the dress shown plus six female skin tones and it is just one of a whole mess of gifts (other skins etc.) that Remain Coy of English Muffin has put out for her group. While the group has a 100L joiner fee, the dress gift is currently set to free (check the Teddy Bear under the tree). Move fast while the gift is available...Update: the gift is now 75l for non-group members.

Vintage Look

Have you been to Vintage Fair yet? There is still a day left to check out three sims with tons of shops showcasing new releases with a "vintage" twist (along with the occasional gift). The pose props/poses released at these events are usually my favorite and Vintage Fair is full of new items from the posemakers. One of the best is "Escher" from Bent!, which has 22 cool, artsy poses in a surreal, multi-level white structure that reminds me of a classic Calvin Klein fragrance ad.

I've combined two vintage looks from the Menstuff hunt with two new skin releases. Ezra is another in a series of great skins from Heartsick available at Vintage Fair and I imagine in-store after the event. Essences' new skin Dinu is on-sale at Mens Dept for the super low price of 85l (Essences also has a tone from this skin in the Menstuff hunt).
